What In the World Did I Just Do?!

I think I must be crazy! I just started a blog!! Oh well--here we go!

I decided that I'm tired of everybody else showing off their cute kiddos on their blog and talking about how great their fam is! Don't get me wrong, I love all my friends, but I've got a super great family too, right? So, now I'm going to show them off on a regular basis! Yeah!

Hopefully this blog thing will make me better at taking pics of my kids, getting them downloaded and maybe even printing them.

(Let me clarify our blog name--my kids LOVE to cook. My FAVORITE aunt, Jill, loves to watch the Barefoot Contessa. Now my kids do too! Jill says the kids will one day have a show called "Bar-B-Quing with the Burgins". When I told Av and J that, they went nuts! They're ready for Food Network Stardom!)

Quick overview of the fam to start things off--Everyone in our family is in school but me!

Rick is currently in his final "classroom" year of his PhD. Talk about a hard worker! He's crazy smart and so determined to do his best! We are all so proud of him, but we sure will be happy when the studying days are over!!

Avigayle is 8 and in the 3rd grade. She's gorgeous and has the most precious spirit about her. She LOVES school and is having a fantastic year! She is cheering and getting ready to begin gymnastics again (we took a couple months break). She is also singing in choir at church and in her first school play next week. She could not be more thrilled with that opportunity!!

Jonathan is 5 and in Kindergarten. What is it that makes sending those sweet boys off to school so hard? He is also having a great year, and we are so blessed for that. I was in knots before school began that this would be a really difficult transition, but he has done beautifully. He is also playing flag football. He weighs less than 40 pounds, but he makes an amazing lineman!! He is still involved in karate, and we love that as well. He is now a green belt--this was our first BIG goal in karate, because now he is allowed to spar and wear a really cool helmet!!

Katen is almost 22 months and in the Little Ducks preschool class at our church (two days a week). She is loving every minute of that. Of course, our little tater tot pretty much loves anything that involves people. She is delicious, totally edible!! She likes to think she rules the roost around here and on some days, when my defenses are low, she does. I guess that's part of being number 3! She's not playing a sport or taking any classes, but she does love to cheer and is IN LOVE with Jonathan's karate instructor. (Oh, and she has a crush on Drew that sleeps next to her at naptime!)

I am just taking care of this brood the best I can and loving having that job!! I will be walking in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3day in 4 weeks (that's 60 miles over a 3day period). It's my second year, and I am really excited!!

More posts to come---hopefully they won't be so long after this!! Love to you all!
